Saturday, October 04, 2008
A first-of-its-kind grease recycling program kicks off Tuesday in the City of Burnaby. The city has been chosen for a pilot project that allows residents to drop off their used cooking oil at the Still Creek Recycling Depot. Oil will then be collected by ERM BioSource, a company that converts cooking oil into biodiesel. The project - a joint venture between the company and the Recycling Council of British Columbia - will run for about a year. Burnaby will be the first city in B.C. to offer the program, although ERM BioSource has already worked with 700 restaurants around the Lower Mainland. Click here for full text article.
